Gratitude for all the small and large things! After a weekend's weather mix of very cool rain and patchy sunshine, it is such a pleasure to have the dining room door open again and the sunlight flooding through. It is only when it is absent that I begin to miss the feel of the sun's rays on my face.
Why does it sometimes take the absence of something for us to be grateful for what we have? May be it is because we tend to take things for granted or perhaps we just forget whilst we go about our daily routines of eating, working, eating again, toiletting, having fun etc etc! At last weekend's wonderful Angelic Reiki Level 1+2 workshop with four beautiful ladies at my home, I remember saying that it was important to remember what we experienced during the workshop: the feelings of love, transmutation, power, glory, fun, sistership amongst others: I am still basking in these wonderful energys and memories. I believe that in order for us to instantly access or recall these beautiful feelings and experiences which can help us when we are tired or are feeling despondent, we need to express gratitude for them on a daily basis. Gratitude is also a means of re-creating these vibrations again. I have taken to, upon waking in the morning, saying thank you for a new day and for new opportunities and experiences and with the intention of being the best that I can be. I do it whilst I stretch out in bed and before I embark on my morning meditation. Later on, because it is summer (I will tell you whether I still do it when it gets cold!!) I go out barefoot into the garden and salute the sun and the earth. If I see the moon or feel her presence, I acknowledge her with love and respect. Rituals are pretty important and if you think about it, every thing you do is a ritual in its own right. How you wake up in the morning, what do you do first? Have a loo break or a shower or a smootch with your partner so that your blood starts pumping to help you get out of bed into a cool cool room! When my daughter is with me, I try to wake up before she does to meditate, then we have a cuddle otherwise I sneak out and feed the cats and let them out first! Sometimes our rituals need a shake up and a spring clean or a complete ditch out! And we might want to start afresh with new morning phrases of gratitude and love for ourselves and the universe. Perhaps we might want to complete the day with an expression of gratitude for all that has occurred throughout the day, even the challenges and not such nice experiences. My plan is to continue my morning gratitude ritual, extend it with a phrase or phrases which express my appreciation of myself and my service to others, love for Source and all beings across all dimensions and my gratitude for being incarnate here at such a glorious time on Earth. How do you wake up? Do you wake up feeling excited at all the possibilities of a new dawn? Will you celebrate all the good things you will experience and receive in the day? I hope so, because this will help you to receive all the beauty and abundance that you deserve. Namaste xxx
