Going into Black and Dark Last night I was thinking about the Winter Solstice and what it would mean for me and this came through:
Tamesas or Black Isis (the river Thames) The Black Madonna Tzaphkiel Part of the river Thames is referred to as Tamesas or Tam-Isis or the Black Isis. This has intrigued me for some time, why would a river be referred to as black? And also to be named after a goddess many miles away? There are icons and statues which depict Mary the mother of Jesus with black or dark skin, why? In the Angelic Reiki tradition, Tazphkiel or the energy of the Highest Divine Feminine is also black. These three energies and references to the colour black is very interesting and I feel points to the need to go into the "dark", into the secret, unspoken and hidden: and reminds me of the the old rites of initiation where we were expected to face our fears to expunge them. These rites were undertaken in dark places, in mazes devoid of light, in deep caves, in deep waters. Perhaps it is also because of our old collective fleeting memories of Spirit within the Space of all Possibility, which is neither dark or light as "nothing" but potential exists. "Nothing" does not even exist as there is no "something" either. In some creation stories, movement occurs in this space of all possibilty, then sound and finally light. Perhaps in that absence of light, we have named it dark and somehow, we have lost the memory of the beauty of this space. We get so caught up on light and dark, good and bad that we forget that darkness is just an absence of light and isn't polarity interesting in this world with white people and black people! It's wonderful to have mixed people now as it muddies the extremes and begins to reconnect us and banish racism. So the notions of black and dark as bad need to be dropped so that we have a greater appreciation of all colour. In Aura Soma, clear or colourless carries all the colours of the spectrum but then so does deep magenta which looks black: the latter also contains all the colours even though to our physical eyes it seems devoid of one colour except itself, which is the same as white light: it just looks white to us. We know that when we perceive something as a colour, what is actually happening is that our eyes are receiving all the colours of the spectrum except that which is the true colour of the object we are looking at. So actually, grass and leaves are not really green, they look green to us, but they are all but green because the grass and leaves have absorbed all the colours except green which we see because it is the only wavelength of light which has not been absorbed. So here we are placing so much value on "white" whilst in the ancient traditions and wisdoms, black was revered and respected with equal intensity as white. This Solstice I want to create for all of us, a transmission which will help us to embrace darkness and also light and to love and appreciate it with equal intensity and with equal reverence, for these are within us too. How can we love one part of ourselves and not the other? How can we hide one part and not celebrate all. It will be the longest night on the 22nd December, 11 days after the New Moon. It is a time to return to a state of being and nothing else, just like Spirit or Source before the first impulse of movement, within a place of potential, of all possibility. The dark affords us a place to just be, to remember: and indeed like Isis: to re-member her precious Osiris after he was torn into 13 pieces by his brother and to ressurect into the balanced state of the Yin and Yang, the masculine and feminine, the dark and light. Perhaps for you, this year has felt like a time of deconstruction, so this solstice is for you to gather all parts of yourself once again, to be whole and to be love. This Solstice is about remembering, ressurection and rebirth and I will work with the stones of Diamond, Clear Quartz, Obsidian and Black Tourmaline, bringing through the energies of the sacred river Thames close by, the eternal Isis: wife, mother and lover, and the angel Tazphkiel that we may merge in Bliss, Ecstacy and Unity. Why are we working with the Feminine? Do we all need to be mother? No we do not have to be anything we do not resonate with, but we know we are all creators and it is time to bring balance once again to this world. We have played with the Feminine before and have been playing with the masculine for some time. It is now time to play with and embody the balance and union of both. Namaste, Ananda Starangel
